International Paralympic Committee VISTA Conference 10th edition
The IPC Science and Research Working Group (SRWG) will celebrate the 10th anniversary of IPC’s scientific gathering, demonstrating that the Paralympic Movement continues its scientific journey by providing a platform for Para sport researchers to meet, be inspired, learn from and share with other researchers, athletes, coaches and scientists, in pursuit of excellence.
The 10th edition of the VISTA Conference will be organised virtually over six days between 18 November and 16 December 2021. VISTA 2021 will address six themes at the heart of the Paralympic Movement:
Evidence-Based Classification (18 Nov, 13:00 – 16:00 CET)
Health and Medicine (22 Nov, 13:00 – 16:00 CET)
Technology in Paralympic Sport (29 Nov, 13:00 – 16:00 CET)
Socio-Cultural Legacy (1 Dec, 13:00 – 16:00 CET)
Ethics and Integrity (14 Dec, 13:00 – 16:00 CET)
Paralympic Performance (16 Dec, 13:00 – 17:00 CET)
Each theme will be presented by a different university, with KU Leuven as the main host. This VISTA 2021 celebration is only possible because of the support and collaboration of the respective universities – their endorsement and support are very much valued and appreciated.
Each theme will be discussed during dedicated three-hour long online sessions which will include a keynote address (30 min), oral presentations (90 min) and a panel discussion with renowned experts (60 min). Keynotes, oral and poster presentations will be pre-recorded and made available online to all participants on 1 November 2021. In this way, the three hours online session is reserved for Q&A and interaction with the audience.
Sports scientists and experts in Para sport are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations through the conference website www.vista2021.com until the submission deadline of 10 July 2021, 23:59 CET.
The VISTA 2021 Organising Committee is proud to announce that participation in the conference is free for all Paralympians who participated in the Paralympic Games from Rome 1960 to Tokyo 2020. Furthermore, registration fee is waived for delegates from countries on the lower 50% of the UN Human development Index ranking 2020.
