Therapy Registry

Sport Scientist Canada understands that it can be time consuming to vet appropriate therapists to work within a sport organization.

SSC has developed an in-house National Therapy Registry to assist/ease the NSO search. This Non-Public Registry consists of over 120 therapists (Athletic Therapists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, and Physiotherapists). The registry includes therapists with sport experience in clubs, provincial, national, and professional level.

To access the National Therapy Registry, please follow the Registry Process:

  1. Contact Remo Bucci, the SSC High-Performance Advisory Committee (HPAC) Sport Therapy Lead, at rbucci@csiontario.ca to enquire about potential therapist(s).
  2. Include your selection factors (see below) when emailing Remo. Further discussion may be required.
  3. Remo will filter the Registry based on the NSO request and provide the NSO with information about what therapist(s) would be appropriate. Remo will respond within 2-3 weeks of the request either by email and/or a meeting.
  4. If the NSO agrees then Remo will connect the NSO to the therapist(s).

  • Geographical location
  • Skill set
  • Willingness to travel
  • Years of Experience

Join the Therapy Registry

Please read below for more information on the 2 types of Therapy Registries.

  • SSC Member Registry (includes High Performance Certification and Professional Sport Scientist Canada Members): This group consists of Therapists that are sport designated/working towards sport designation, and non-sport designated Therapists who are either currently/previously had a recent experience working with an NSO, Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), and/or Canadian Olympic Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN). A Professional Member, once they have worked consistently with an NSO(s) for 3 years then they can apply for the SSC’s High Performance Certification.
  • Non-SSC Members Registry: Therapists completing this form have completed their sport designation from their respective Expert Group and want to work in High Performance sport. These Therapists are not affiliated with an NSO, COC, CPC, and/or COPSIN. If Therapists included in this Registry work with an NSO, they can apply (with a recommendation from their NSO) to Sport Scientist Canada and become Professional Members. This registry will be sent to the Expert Groups to be distributed to their members.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Are the registered therapists SSC Members?

There are 2 registries that SSC will select from. They are:

    • SSC Members (High-Performance Certified and Professional members) who are sport designated*, working towards sport designation, or non-sport designated.
    • Non-SSC Members that are sport designated* with their respective Sport Therapy Expert Groups (as per Major Games Canada):
      • Canadian Athletic Therapy Association (CATA)
      • Canadian Massage Therapy Association (CSMTA)
      • Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) (RCCSS(C))
      • Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC)

*Sport designated indicates that a therapist has completed additional sport qualifications in their respective discipline.

  • Are the therapists willing to Travel?

Yes, all Therapists are willing to Travel. Depending on Therapist, they can travel more or less than 2 times a season and more or less than 3 weeks in duration.

  • How fast would NSO receive responses about the therapist(s)?

Expect a 2-3 week window for SSC to provide the NSO therapist(s) that would be appropriated.

  • How do I book a meeting with Remo?

The NSO can email Remo at rbucci@csiontario.ca for enquires.  It will be up to the NSO if they would prefer a virtual/phone meeting or email correspondence for follow up.

  • Is SSC advising/recommending or providing the practitioners to the NSO.

We are providing therapist(s) based on the NSO list of factors. The information gathered from the therapists was on the honour system; therefore, it is strongly recommended and encouraged for the NSOs to perform their due diligence of the therapist(s) that they are interested in. For example, copies of liability insurance, certification, registration, proof (screen shot) of being in good standing with their regulatory college or association if the province does not have a regulatory college, and references.

  • When was the therapists’ information collected?

The information was collected in August 2024. There will be an annual update in October 2025.

  • What are the rates?

NSOs and therapists can negotiate an agreed upon rate on an individual basis.
