Michael is a Registered Physiotherapist with over a decade of experience specializing in Sport Physiotherapy. He has been a member of Hockey Canada’s National Para Hockey program for 7 years and is a Certified High-Performance Practitioner with Sport Scientist Canada. Michael has also been an active member of Sport Physiotherapy Canada recently holding a position on the National Executive Committee where he chaired the High Performance and Para Sport Committee.
Michael also maintains involvement with his former alma mater, University of Toronto, where he frequently acts as a Sport Selective facilitator. He also helps facilitate various para sport initiatives, most recently speaking at the inaugural Paralympic Innovative Series. He also holds a position on the Medical Advisory Board for ParaGolf Canada.
Outside of his involvement with Hockey Canada, Michael has worked extensively with various grassroots to professional programs. He has supported various National level athletes and teams including hockey, volleyball, athletics and rugby. Michael has a special interest in closing the gap between rehabilitation and strength and conditioning and the importance of the integrated support team in facilitating a high performance culture. He holds advanced certifications in concussion and vestibular therapy, dry needling, and strength and conditioning.
Through his work with Hockey Canada, he has had the opportunity to take part in high performance systems and develop key leadership skills that have led to improved health and performance related outcomes in his practice. Working in Para Sport has also provided him with an opportunity to see first-hand the epitome of human spirit and resilience. This experience has profoundly shaped the lens of how he views the role of Physiotherapy and being a part of a High Performance team.
