Jeremy Sheppard has been working in high-performance athletes since 1993. Prior to returning to Canada, he held hybrid Strength & Conditioning Coach and Sport Science/Medicine leadership positions with Surfing Australia (World Championship Tour), Australian Volleyball (World League, Olympic team), Queensland Academy of Sport, Nike, and the world-renowned Australian Institute of Sport. Outside of the Olympic movement, Jeremy has worked for and advised the New York Jets, Newcastle United Football Club, Melbourne Storm, and Gold Coast Suns. Coach Sheppard has had the good fortune of helping athletes do something special at numerous summer and winter Olympics (2000, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2022), X Games, Continental Championships, World Tour, and World Championships events.
Coach Sheppard has been embedded as a Performance Coach within the coaching team of the Canadian Slopestyle program since 2016. His focus within the coaching team is the integration of movement, mindset, and medicine into snowboarding performance. Concomitant with his coaching role, Jeremy has led the development of the Health and Athletic Performance team for Canada Snowboard. In this role he has the good fortune of working with and integrating the expertise and know-how of a world class team of coaches and practitioners across a broad spectrum of disciplines within health and performance.
Jeremy is a registered Professional Coach in Snowboarding Slopestyle, and a graduate of Canada’s National Coaching Institute’s post-graduate diploma in Elite Athlete Development. Along his coaching and S&C coaching journey, his curiosity led him to complete a PhD in Sport Science, Masters of Applied Science, and undergraduate degree in Coaching with a Psychology minor. He has completed numerous leadership programs; most notably with Melbourne Graduate School, Australian Institute of Sport, and Own the Podium. Jeremy is relatively broadly trained in sport science, with credentials in Performance Nutrition, Medical Exercise & Rehabilitation, and numerous psychological-physiological regulation techniques. He is a Coach Emeritus with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a Master Coach and Life Member with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association. As a coach he employs a broad movement vocabulary and as such is credentialed in a range of methodologies within the fields of Athletics, mobility, recovery-regeneration, gymnastics, and weightlifting. Jeremy is also a member of the International Society for Sport Psychology and the Canadian Sport Psychology Association.
As a passionate speaker and writer, Jeremy has published over 150 peer-reviewed contributions, including 16 book chapters. He has spoken at coaching conferences and sport science events throughout the USA and Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, South America, Indonesia, Australia, China, and New Zealand.
