Elwin is a certified athletic therapist with over 20 years of experience in the Canadian high performance sport landscape.
On the Field-Of-Play, Elwin is currently the Medical Lead for Field Hockey Canada’s Indoor National Team Program and has been the team therapist for the Canadian Men’s Indoor National Field Hockey Team since 2002. Elwin’s experience with Field Hockey Canada include 5 PAHF Indoor Pan American Cups, 4 FIH Indoor World Cups, the 2005 World Games, and the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
Elwin is also a therapist with Taekwondo Canada, supporting Canada’s National Taekwondo Team at the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, the World Taekwondo Championships, World Taekwondo Junior Championships, Pan American Championships, the Pan Am Games, World Taekwondo Grand Prix and the staging camp for the 2024 Olympics.
Elwin’s other Team Canada experiences include being an athletic therapist on the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Health Services Team at the 2019 Pan American Games, and the 2020 Youth Winter Olympic Games.
On the sport management side, Elwin’s experience includes helping to develop and deliver the medical services operations for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, the 2017 Invictus Games, the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, the 2022 Canada Summer Games, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Elwin was also the Medical Director for the 2004 and 2013 PAHF Men’s Pan American Cups, and the 2016 PAHF Jr. Men’s Pan American Championships. In 2019, Elwin was invited onto the Pan American Hockey Federation’s Health and Safety Panel.
